September Brings Hands-on Activities For Kids, Parents At Imagination Place
“Anyone with children knows the new year really starts when the kids go back to school,” IP Director Tami Brooks said. “September is going to be a great month for us.”
After a summer hiatus, Wee Wednesday returns from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 1. Wee Wednesday is a program geared toward preschool-age children using stories, songs and crafts to teach early learning skills. Participants will be learning about frogs and tadpoles, houses, sounds all around and more.
From noon to 5 p.m. each Tuesday, beginning Sept. 7, Imagination Place will have Free Admission Day, which is made possible by the support of Exchange Bank of Alabama.

Sept. 7 also marks the start of the Mom’s Morning Out program. This will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
Moms will enjoy some play time with their children in Imagination Place, then head upstairs to the art studio to work on an art project while the children have fun in IP with the educators.
Projects will vary, using all types of media, and participants will do mosaic, make jewelry, create book arts and more. Additional materials fees may apply and will be determined according to the project. Pre-registration is required for this program.
For school-age children, the second and third Thursdays are special days. On the second Thursdays, IP hosts Culinary Corner, where budding chefs can create a fun and healthy snack that everyone will love, then eat the results. On third Thursdays, parents can bring the children by for ImagineArt to create their own work of art with Imagination Place educators. A different project will be featured each month.
These are come-and-go programs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on their respective days. Regular admission prices apply to programs.
